Russell H. Vandevelde, IV
Russell H. Vandevelde, IV co-founded his firm, EBS, in 1998. EBS is an insurance sales, consulting, and service firm that specializes in the placement of Bank Owned Life Insurance (BOLI) and Corporate Owned Life Insurance (COLI) programs to informally fund Non-Qualified Deferred Compensation Plans. EBS has corporate clients in 35 different states and services over $3 billion of insurance assets.
Russell is a founder of National Bank of Commerce and has served as the Chairman of the $2 billion bank. He has twice served on the Board of Directors of the Birmingham Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (BAIFA). In addition to this, he serves on the Board of Directors of the Advanced Association of Life Underwriters (AALU). He also serves on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of Children’s Harbor. Russell is a member of Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) and was a member of the 2015 Leadership Birmingham class. He is also a member of the United Way Tocqueville Society, Birmingham Downtown Rotary, Country Club of Birmingham, Willow Point County Club, and is an active member at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church where he serves on the finance committee.
A graduate of Vanderbilt University, Russell double majored in Mathematics and Sociology.
Away from work, he enjoys coaching little league athletics and has coached over 25 seasons. He is currently the color analyst for Mountain Brook High School football and basketball games televised locally on SportsNet. He also enjoys Alabama football, hunting, fishing and spending time at the lake with his family.
Russell resides in Mountain Brook, Alabama with his wife, Adelaide, and four daughters, Delia (age 17), identical twins, Ann and Liz (age 14), and Frances (age 12).
