WASHINGTON, D.C. – AALU, the leading organization of financial security professionals who provide life insurance and retirement planning solutions, today announced it has made two new hires to the organization. Katherine Knight will serve as vice president of communications, and Rob McLeod will serve as assistant vice president of membership. Both will assume the roles this week.
“AALU is excited to welcome Katherine and Rob to the team to fill these two critical roles and serve as leaders in the organization,” said CEO Marc Cadin. “Their experience and background coming from marquee trade associations in Washington, D.C., will help elevate AALU to the next level so we can better serve our members and the profession.”
Knight will oversee the communications division and will be responsible for providing strategic vision and leadership for AALU’s communications efforts to help grow AALU’s brand and influence. McLeod will build and lead the membership team and be responsible for exponentially growing AALU’s membership to strengthen the organization’s ability to advocate for the profession.
Knight joins AALU from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce as part of the media relations and external communications team. Prior to the Chamber, she spent several years on capitol hill as a press secretary for Sen. Pat Roberts of Kansas, Sen. Lamar Alexander of Tennessee, and former Sen. Saxby Chambliss of Georgia. Knight is a native of Rome, GA, and holds a master’s degree in Public Relations and Corporate Communications from Georgetown University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia.
McLeod most recently served as Director of Membership Development at the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM). Prior to his time at NAM, he spent five years as District Manager for MSI-Viking Gage in Charleston, SC. McLeod is a native of Charleston, SC, and a graduate of the University of South Carolina.
In addition, AALU yesterday announced it has recently doubled its membership, the most significant membership development in AALU’s history.
