Education Advisory Committee

The role of the Education Advisory Committee is to devise and plan Annual Meeting program content including main platform, workshops, political engagement, exhibits, sponsorships and registration/marketing. The committee members assigned to these specific areas will report up to the Education Advisory Committee Co-Chairs. AALU staff will work in conjunction with the Education Advisory Committee to ensure execution.

Diversity Committee

The Diversity Committee reviews the status of inclusion and engagement within the organization, recommends methods for enhancing practices, and advises on how the organization can better meet the needs of its diverse membership and their clients. The Committee explores ways to encourage people of all backgrounds to join and be active in AALU. The Committee defines diversity as being inclusive of, but not limited to, a variety of ethnic and religious backgrounds as well as those of varied genders, sexual orientations, and ages. The Committee seeks to create a culture within AALU that values diversity and fosters inclusion.

Retirement Planning Committee

This committee assists the AALU team in producing quality professional development content in the qualified and nonqualified space. This includes identifying subjects to be covered, reviewing products, developing new products, and aggregating and distilling the most relevant professional development content. This committee will help us identify the issues and materials that will provide value for our members in the retirement planning marketplace.

Standards of Conduct Committee

This committee provides strategic advice and technical expertise to assist AALU’s regulatory efforts on standard of conduct issues, including Suitability, Best Interest, and Fiduciary proposals. The committee helps to identify key issues in the marketplace from a producer prospective, determining priorities for AALU engagement on standards of conduct proposals at the State and federal level, reviewing AALU materials, and providing expertise/examples/language for AALU comment letters and other regulatory materials.

Wealth Transfer Committee

This committee assists the AALU team in producing quality professional development content for producers with wealth transfer practices. This includes identifying subjects to be covered, reviewing products, developing new products, and aggregating and distilling the most relevant professional development content. This committee will help us identify the issues and materials that will provide value for our members in the wealth transfer marketplace.

Political Engagement Committee

The AALU Political Engagement Ambassador Committee is dedicated to the growth and advancement of the organization’s political involvement program, AALU Ambassadors. Committee members are tasked with identifying, educating, and recruiting future AALU Ambassadors, as well as assisting members that have volunteered to serve as Campaign Chairs for Endorsed Candidate events.

COLI/BOLI Working Group

The COLI/BOLI Working Group is led by a member of the Board of Directors’ Government Affairs Committee. The working group meets monthly to advise AALU staff on policy positions and messaging points related to our advocacy around the business uses of life insurance including Corporate Owned Life Insurance, Bank Owned Life Insurance and Non-Qualified Deferred Compensation plans. The working group also keeps the AALU GA team apprised of marketplace developments. Membership in the working group is by invitation only. It is intentionally a small group of thought leaders.

Estate Tax Working Group 

The Estate Tax Working Group is led by a member of the Board of Directors Government Affairs Committee. The working group meets monthly to advise AALU staff on policy positions and messaging points related to our advocacy around Estate Tax and Wealth Transfer policy. The working group also keeps the AALU GA team apprised of marketplace developments. Membership in the working group is by invitation only. It is intentionally a small group of thought leaders.
