What does the job entail?

Our Political Affairs Manager is a key member of our engagement team, working day-in and day-out to better tell the story of our profession. Practically speaking that means overseeing a grassroots portfolio including political fundraising, coordinating legislative meetings, identifying and recruiting new advocates from the membership and developing them into high quality political advocates. This manager will also oversee the administration of the Association’s PAC, budget and assist with compliance.

The Political Affairs team is a core group of member-facing staff, requiring a professional and outgoing individual. This collaborative team works together to further the Association’s political programs, stepping up and helping each other out with a can-do attitude.

Specifically, on the political team we are looking for someone who is not afraid to ask questions and has a passion for member engagement. Being able to manage consistent progress on several different projects along different timelines and meet deadlines is essential. The government affairs team works with complex policy topics and our manager should be excited by learning. Successful team members are able to take assignments, ask questions, then drive towards a result securing appropriate inputs from other team members and volunteers.

Skills & Experience

  • 3-5 years’ work experience in political operations, political/PAC fundraising, or campaign setting.Strong political fundraising background, including event management, individual fundraising including soliciting both large and small dollar contributions, and donor maintenance/relationship building.
  • Expertise in building relationships with members, policymakers and other key stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Comfortable with public speaking.
  • Ability to work independently with good judgement. Strong attention to detail.

This is a full time, exempt position. Salary commensurate with experience.
