Specifically, on the policy team we are looking for someone who is intellectually curious. Being able to manage consistent progress on several different projects along different timelines and meet deadlines is essential. Experience distilling complex policy and marketplace issues in a concise and understandable manner to varied audiences. Successful team members are able to take assignments, ask questions, then drive towards a result securing appropriate inputs from other team members and volunteers.

 Duties & Responsibilities:

Our Government Affairs Manager is a key member of our policy team. Practically speaking that means a lot of research, writing, organization, messaging, distillation, and legislative tracking. Our policy team covers an increasing range of issues including: life insurance, annuities, retirement policy, tax policy, investments, financial planning, genetics, cybersecurity, and standards of conduct. It also means contributing common sense and intellectual firepower to the development of our policy positions; an exercise that will stretch the boundaries of your mastery of policy, politics, decision-makers, and our members, their businesses, and the clients they serve.

In addition, our Government Affairs Manager provides administrative support to the department generally and specifically to the EVP, VP, & AVP.

Skills & Experience:

  • 2-3 years federal legislative and/or regulatory experience
  • Detail oriented
  • Highly organized
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • No life insurance background necessary, we will teach you!

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

Compensation and Benefits:

This is a full time, exempt position with salary commensurate with experience.
