Description
The primary purpose of the Regulatory Reform Committee is to monitor the regulatory
restructuring debate in 2010 and provide input and recommendations to the AALU
Board of Directors. The House Financial Services Committee and the Senate Banking
Committee will hold extensive hearings next year. Broad regulatory restructuring
legislation is expected to be introduced in both committees and enacted within the
first half of 2010. The direction of the Optional Federal Charter (OFC) and Office
of Insurance Information (OII) is expected to be tied directly to the regulatory debate.
To address this issue, AALU is creating a regulatory committee to oversee proposals,
suggest improvements and work toward the development of regulation that best
represents the interests of our members and their clients.
